In Our Spotlight: Mommies Enduring Neonatal Death (MEND)

By Michelle Blackmon

M.E.N.D. is a Christian not-for-profit corporation whose purpose is to reach out to those who have lost a child due to miscarriage, stillbirth or early infant death and offer a way to share experiences and information through support groups, the quarterly newsletter, and an Internet web site. The site is useful to those who are grieving a loss as well as to others who may be ministering to someone who has experienced a loss. This site is for friends, families, pastors, and any whose life has been impacted by the loss of a child.

Although all of the ministry team members come from different backgrounds and have different stories to tell, they all have gone through the same initiation that made them members of this "club."  The desire for this ministry is for those who know the suffering of losing a precious baby to miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death, join together to uplift and support one another.  And the ministry prays "...that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God". (2 Corinthians 1:4)

If you have suffered the loss of a baby, I encourage you to contact the ministry.  They publish a free bi-monthly newsletter and conduct support groups throughout the United States. The newsletters are archived on their site based on topic so that in addition to current newsletters, you can review past topics for help in the specific area of need. Their site includes special gifts and keepsakes as well. These gifts give you connection to many other ministries who provide love and support through a time of grief. You can visit Mommies Enduring Neonatal Death on the web at www.mend.org
